Polihale Volunteer Day - Volunteer Week Kauai 2017

Description:
Want to give back to your community and the 'aina of our beautiful island? Looking to explore parts of Kauai that you may have never been to? Look no further than Volunteer Week Kauai 2017, during which we have 7 days of service planned across our island's mokus.

Please join us for any or all of the projects below, taking place the week of 4/23-4/29. And be sure to come out to our potluck celebration at the end of the week at 5pm at the Kaiola Canoe Club!

VOLUNTEER WEEK KAUAI 2017 EVENTS:

Sun, 4/23 - MANA, Polihale State Park (10am-2pm)
Help the state parks maintain this scenic beach by painting their pavilion and picnic tables. Meet at the main area of Polihale by the bathrooms.

Mon, 4/24 - NI'IHAU, Ke Kula Ni'ihau o Kekaha School Garden (2:30pm-6:30pm)
Spruce up the school garden that nourishes the keiki at this Ni'ihau public charter school.

Tues, 4/25 - NAPALI, Koke'e State Park Invasive Species Removal (2pm-5pm)
Work with KRCP to conserve the native ecosystem along the Pihea trail overlooking the Napali coast and Kalalau Valley. Meet at Puu o Kila Lookout (2nd Kalalau lookout at end of road, past 18 mile mark)

Wed, 4/26 - KONA, National Tropical Botanical Garden: McBryde Garden (8am-1pm)
Prepare a zone for the planting of a rare Kauai endemic tree, Polyscias bisattenuata. For meeting location and details, please RSVP to volunteer@ntbg.org or (808)332-7324 x232 (RSVP required!)

Thurs, 4/27 - KO'OLAU, NetPatrol and Beach Cleanup at Moloa'a Bay (3pm-6pm)
Help Surfrider remove nets and clean this popular beach to protect sealife. Meeting point is by the stream mouth, going into ocean; look for a blue sign on tree that reads Moloa'a Beach.

Fri, 4/28 - HALELE'A, Malama Kaua'i Community Farm (2pm-6pm)
Improve community-based food systems and expand educational gardens. Site is off of Kahiliholo Rd, just past the North Shore Dog Park.

Sat, 4/29 - PUNA

Morning (9am-12pm) - Kawaikini School Garden
Build a greenhouse at Kawaikini School behind KCC in Lihue.

Afternoon(2pm-5pm) - Malama Hule'ia
Help Malama Hule'ia restore the native ecosystem along the Hule'ia River. Meet at the Kaiola Canoe Club on Niumalu Road, Lihue.
